    Hi Everyone,
Hope you are having a great weekend. Caught this Juvinile Kingfisher interacting with its mother in the local birding hot spot today.

    Stats: Canon 50D, 500 F/4 + 1.4X, 1/60 sec at F/8, ISO 400, EC +1

    Thanks for you comments,

    Steve

    Steve:

Nice to see a juvi belted kingfisher. Well exposed, sharp on the eye, attractive pose.
The Y branch that intersects his head an bill is a bit distracting, and I would be tempted to try to tone it down. I might also burn in the two brighter leaves in the RUC.

Hope to see some more of this series. I have had zero luck with my local kingfishers. Very skittish.

    Cheers

    Randy

    Hi Randy,
Thanks for your comment. I have had unusually good luck with Kingfishers this year. These birds were only about 50 feet away at a local park right next to the parking lot. The mother doesn't like it when you move around too much but if you are there already when she arrives she seems unconcerned about your presence.

    Take care,

    Steve

Nice! I like the pose (head turn) and the perch ... and the fine details in the feathers.

I'm seeing a bit of a cyan cast on my monitor. That's easily fixed with a curves adjustment. Maybe also blur the background,
leaving just an indication of the habitat?

Hi Steve, Nice view of a juvenile Kingfisher. Randy covered my observations so I won't rehash them. I am envious. I have yet to get close enough to even think about pushing the shutter release.

I was typing while David posted his edits. I hadn't noticed the color cast his whites do look brighter/whiter.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Everyone,
Sorry to have taken so long to get back to you. Here is my version of the re-post. Hopefully the blue cast is not an issue any more and have re-cropped and toned down the background. Also have removed the stick.

    Thanks,

    Steve
