Good capture. From my experience, it is hard to have the shorebird looking right at you when it does that - a big plus. I like the symmetrical look. The only thing that looks funny to me is its left leg, but of courses, that's the way it was.

Very good sharpness in the lower body. I would run another round of sharpening on the head.

Hi Allan No real trick to get them coming out you, just need the right wind !!! They will flap in any direction but when it comes time to the jump ..... will be into the wind !!!

Thanks. I often do not think of that. For example, this morning I saw shorebirds on the beach. There was only one place I could stand to get the light behind me. I did not think of the wind.

But it is something to remember.

Al very nice shot. I only been to Ft. Desoto once. Need to go back again.
Also, I would clone out the dark spots on the right side of the frame.

Hi Al, agree with some of the minor tweaks but all in all a very well handled image. I like the head on view while catching the soft light at a pleasing angle. Finally the V shaped wing formation adds alot of interest along with the spray coming off the wings.

For some reason this photo reminds me of a flying horse - you know those horses with wings in the movies :) - running towards the camera :)
