Canon 7D, 300mm f2.8is, 1.4x converter, s/speed 1/500s, f4.0, iso400, handheld. Eval metering. Processed in ACR and PS, cropped to 12mpixels. Location Wild Coast, Eastern Cape, South Africa. 17 June 2010.
Photographed whilst standing on a rocky point on shore. Some cloudy skies making these shots a little less colourful than I had hoped, hoping for more chances, one week left at the place.

Wonderful action captured. EXP good. Love the framing and COMP. A pano crop from above might strengthen this.

I think that you would have been less happy had it been a clear day :)

    Sweet capture Grant !!

Would crop just short of halfway down the horizon line !! Like it as presented Ideally full sun and a polarizer would have given the best results !!! Love the image !!!

Like the composition on this very much. There appear to be a couple of dust/water? marks in the top lhs which I'd clone out. Looking forward to seeing the results of your last week in the area.

Thanks for the comments, glad you liked the comp and capture Arthur and Harshad. Hilary, the dust spots are in fact Cape gannets in the far distance. I will clone them out, good point.
Al with regard to your cropping suggestion, do you mean I should crop below the sky, so it is all water, or halfway down the strip of grey sky. Let me know and I will repost..
Spent a couple more hours at the spot since then, nothing more yet :) will keep trying

Hi Al, herewith the repost, cropped somewhat to leave 9mpixels. I don't usually crop too many of my shots into pano if that is what you meant. Hilary, this sorts out the Cape gannet spots in the background at the same time.
    Thanks again for the comments

Nice shot Grant and the repost makes it even better. The wakes and spray are now the brightest spots in the pic.

Amazing action, great timing to capture it as you did. I also prefer the crop without the blah sky. Congrats!

I like it Grant. I think you might be able to get more "pop" with some curves/brightness adjustments...
