I really like the colors of the ocean in early light. Sunrise is around 5:20 AM and I got up at 2:45 AM to be on Long Island on time. This is one I made in first light around 5:30 AM.

Axel the details you can get with a dark bird and light backgound are amazing...like the rosy early morning glow of backgound...well done

Beautiful light and composition. Would like some more light in the eye and some of the blacks on the head seem to be blocked up.

Thanks, Joe! The blacks on the head are in the 30-50 range.

I like the soft colors in the background and the flight pose is nice. I think that the darks look a bit dark and the eye could use some life. The pink under the wing is lovely.

Love the pastel ocean, Axel. You have it rougher than me. I get up at 3:45 to get there for sunrise. Worth it tho for colors like this.

Thanks, Grace! 3:45 is not exactly sleeping in, either. :) At least there is no traffic at this time.

Thanks for the suggestions, I adjusted the levels and lightened the eye some more in this version.
