    Default Cedar Waxwing

Taken yesterday in my friend's crabapple tree. There were about twenty of these beautiful birds along with five Pine Grosbeaks.

    20D, 400 f5.6, 1/250 @ f6.3, ISO 400.

Great find and well done. The OOF branches are blurred enough to not be distracting and I like the pose and open beak. I would give it a bit more space at the bottom and increase the saturation a little bit.

    Beautiful, Josh.

I love the way you've captured the muted shades of color in the bird.

Beautiful bird and image. I agree on more room on the bottom.

Agree; very lovely with wonderful soft light. Here's a quiz: why more room on the bottom? (Be specific...)

More room on bottom would do two things.

First, it would give the clipped berry below the foot some room.

Second, it would move the point where the branch enters the frame to the left and closer to (or all the way to) the corner.

I would like to see the perch coming out of the corner. Also gets the berry (is it a berry) that is touching the lower edge off the edge.

Looks like Jim and I think alike. Hope we are right. :)

Lovely image Josh with those soft pastel colours. Looks like they finshed all the berries!

Jim your answer to Athur's 'quiz' sounds plausible, I wonder how many points you'll score...

I'll probably get docked for calling crab apples "berries" :D

Way to go. I was thinking of the cut in half berry. "If an object is worth including in the frame, include all of it with a border."

I would go from just below the berry and then crop from the left to bring the branch in from the corner, otherwise, too much below... Later and love, artie

Excellent exposure, and nice and sharp. I like the colours in this, and great catch light in the eye.
