Nice one Al. That is a cute teddy bear. I thought he was drinking something at first but realized he was wearing a muzzle. He's not too big....I think I could take him!!

What a sad picture this makes! Wild animals have no place in circuses and this sort of behaviour only serves to condone them.

Here in the United Kingdom, the government Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs recently carried out a consultation and as a result they have indicated they may pursue a ban on the use of all wild animals in circuses.

Our Royal Society for the Protection of Animals have been working on the issue for a number of years and their Scientific Officer, Dr. Ross Clubb, recently said "Circuses are clearly no place for wild animals. Confining wild animals to beastwagons and cramped cages, transporting them from site to site and keeping them in abnormal social groups and noisy conditions all add up to a recipe for poor animal welfare. Watching animals perform unnatural tricks also does nothing to educate the public or promote compassion for animals".

A view I whole heartedly agree with.

Dave it you would see the state those animals are in you would go into shock !! At one of the stops along the Volga River we visited a bear and it was customary to save cold cuts from lunch to feed the animal. He did not look very good at all, under nourished.

Agree with everything you said but I'm afraid it will be a while before the animals are removed from the Circus ... as long as they generate a profit !!!
