Taken a few frames later when the two elephants were both in the frame and the calf has its' trunk up. Still buried in long grass but that's the way it was.

The back elephant needed some extra sharpening but is still a little out of the focus range. I also selectively burnt in the front tusk, and not sure I like it but had already saved it for web so will it for now and see what the opinions are. Thanks.
Hilary,
I like the composition. I am not sure about the white portion in the elephant's lower part of the head. Is it mud? Have you done any noise reduction? Watching the small calf must have been a nice experience. Especially since the calf is so small. Unfortunately, the calf is hidden in the grass reducing the photo opportunities. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. Sabyasachi … I don't know what the whitish marks on her face are but they are on all the photos I have of her. I have some of the baby clear of the grass but it is on a road!! :(
The elephants look very happy after their mud bath :). The brightness of the grass distracts a bit . Maybe toning it down would help . The calf is too cute .
I like being able to see the two entirely, not sure you could have done more with the harsh light, did come up with a fine image !!
Having the baby clearly seen would have been great but nothing you can do with the high grass ... except wait for him to grow :D:) Wish you would post the one on the road !! Encounter must have been of the sensory overload type !!!
