    Default Banking Osprey

This is one from Blue Cypress Lake with Fabs, Al and Arash, I think the Osprey even carried a fish. :)

Thanks, Stuart! We were on a boat and the birds flew quite low.

Great angle, perfect exposure (which is tough with ospreys) and nice sharp focus. Also is that the bird's shadow above and to the left?

Thanks, Ian! The darker parts are not the shadow of the bird, it's the side of a tree that is in the shade.

Perfect pose mate. I must ask if you did some cloning? There appear to be a few repetitive areas in front, perhaps it's just a coincidence? Well done mate. :)

Thanks, Ákos! I have to check the RAW file but I don't remember cloning something in front of the bird.

    Howdy Axel

Love the top view here--definitely don't see that very often! Great capture for that. You might see what brightening up the whites would do as far as getting the bird to pop out more from the bg. Another thought I had was maybe to try a darkening of the upper left corner and lightening of the lower right corner--all done very subtly of course and see if you can number one add some interest to the bg but number two more importantly create a diagonal from the opposition of spots thereby effecting eye movement that creates a dynamic feel through the bird. Just a couple of thoughts. But mostly the shot seems of one tonal value ( low contrast i guess you could say)to me and that has taken some expression out of it.

Good shot, congrats! Sharp bird and good angle, one thing -- tree shade on left upper part is little bit distracting for my taste.

Thank you for the suggestions, Paul! They are very interesting, and I will tinker some more with the image.

Great dorsal view Axel, and I like the banking angle. Good placement in the frame, and separated from the BG nicely.

Beautiful. It seems most Osprey shots are blue, white, and black. This photo seems original with rich, dark colors. I like the eye contact and sharp eye. Graceful movement and depth to this, bravo!
