THis was taken last night in downtown Kihei. A vet has created a little wetland behind his office and a pair of Hawaiin Black Necked Stilts took up residence and produced 3 chicks, which are almost fully grown. The parents watched us taking photos when they weren't chasing off any other bird that came near their chicks.

Nice Bird and capture Roy. On my monitor it looks a little subdued. To me it needs a bit more contrast and colour. A nice pic nonetheless TFS

just a wee bit of contrast will make this bird pop off the page!! that along with lightening the eye area would make it even better. i might add a little canvas to the bottom and left also. i really like the feel of this. nice job, roy!!

Hi Roy,good comments by both Chris and Ray. I would of liked to have seen a bit more room behind the bird also. good effort...

Hi Roy. Nice looking Stilt. Do agree that a little more contrast would make a lot better.

Hi Roy - the people have spoken - a tad more contrast for me also - wondering if a bit more sharpening might be in order - does not look tack sharp to me.
Just watch that SS at that focal length - could be the culprit.
    Keep em coming :)

Hi Roy Like the image a lot !! Contrast wise can go either way The image does have a beautiful soft feel and not sure how the contrast bump would affect it?

Head angle wise its interesting, the bird seems to have his eye focused on the corner and not in the direction of the bill .. at least it seems to me !! Like it a lot and about the only thing I would really like is a little more room around the bird !!!

Thanks to everyone who commented. As I just have my laptop I am not doing too much PP, I am trying minimal sharpening because I have been accused of sharpening too much.:D I did try one with more contrast but lost detail in the blacks and as a personal preference I liked this version.
