Great pose, sharpness and light, BG looks good, too. I might desaturate bill and eye a bit.

    Arash:

Very nice, and the soft light really helped you here. Excellent exposure.
From a comp. standpoint, I might be tempted to move the bird a bit to the right in the frame, but very nice as is.

    Cheers

Great feather definition, eye contact and artistic, diagonal wing sweep. My only suggestion would be to give the bird a bit more space to fly into on the left, and a little less space on the right. I also might crop a bit off the bottom, to make the image less elongate.

    But TFS this excellent image!

Great wing and head position. I do agree the central positioning is not ideal in the frame. Is this a vertical capture or do you have room in front? Perhaps you have something from the frame before or after that can be used for extending canvas.

Very nice capture, with good exposure and sharpness. I'd go with a 5x7 crop and move the bird slightly more to the right in the frame.

Arash, agree with others on crop. Beautiful pose and sharpness. Exposure perfect as usual. How big a crop? asking because entire bird sharp at f/5.6. You must have been quite far.

    Arash:

The sharpness of the bird at f/5.6 is interesting. I thought, when I saw that and also noted the 1/5000 sec shutter speed, that it might have been better to stop the lens down to f/7.1 to increase the chances for a sharp image. And that very high shutter speed was probably not necessary.:)

    Norm,
Stopping down to f/7.1 here does not increase your chances of getting a sharp image : first of all this photo is already tack sharp and doesn't get sharper than this :), secondly the 500 f/4 is razor sharp even at f/4 there is no need to stop down for sharpness, third these birds are small and when banking they can fit inside dof at f/4 even at a close range. high shutter speed is the key for obtaining tack sharp flight shots hand hold, the difference between f/7.1 and f/5.6 dof is so small it is not going to help you make a sharper flight image in this condition. key is to keep up the shutter speed, good hand holding and AI servo tracking technique.

Kaustubh the bird is small and when banking parallel you can easily fit it inside f/5.6 dof. Most of the time you see a flight shot is not tack sharp is due to soft focus or lack of SS not dof. this is a crop from horizontal
