I love the elegance of herons! This White-necked Heron (Ardea pacifica) was photographed at my favorite roadside pond in western Sydney. For some reason I had immense success with a couple of notoriously shy species here recently. I am stoked! You can read more about this place in my blog here: http://www.amatteroflight.blogspot.com/
Image: 30D, 300mm fl4L IS USM + 1.4x, ISO400, f/6.3, 1/640th, +2/3 exposure compensation, hand held, full frame. Actually +2/3 to move histogram as far right as possible, then brought back to 0 during conversion.

Nice going, Akos. I read the story on your blog, and your patience paid off in getting near this magnificent bird in good light. Stalking pose and low position is very nice. Well done!
Akos my friend - you get the coolest birds at your roadside ponds. Send some down my way - real lack of subjects at present.
Exposure looks good and nice detail.
Like it!!
I like the inclusion of the habitat and walking pose, sharpness looks good, too. I would try to get more details in the shadow and tone down the whites on the neck a bit.
Very nice pose, shooting angle, environmental component.
Interesting that you needed + EC on this one. I would have expected some minus to protect the whites.
