Just a simple Gull- with a perfect wing position - spot on exposure and action to boot.
What more could you ask for!!

Al - Like the wing position and detail. The splash adds to it. A beautiful image.

A very nice one, Alfred. To my inexperienced, un trained eye the detail and light is superb on the wings and head, also very good on the tail on and the legs, but the body looks a little bright. Others, more experienced than I, are saying the exposure of this image is spot on. I think I have a tendency to over compensate for harsh light and brightness when I post process my images, something I need to work on. How does one develop the eye to determine correct exposure in a digital image?

    Hi Peter

If you are referring to how it looks on line? Maybe check your monitor, whites on the body look fine.

While shooting your histogram is the best friend. With harsh light is difficult and try to wait if possible ....not always :)

Great wing position and a nice foot splash behind. Sort of breaks the rule about not centering the bird, but you know what they say about rules....

To me there is enough room to the left. As above, exposure and pose right on. I would favor just a little more at the top

the wing position is perfect as well as the exposure and detail. would it be wrong if i said it looks too centered for me? i agree with you that more of the trail would have been ideal, but i wouldnt mind more room up front as it is. please, dont shoot me!!:o

Hi Al, Simple is good! Simple can have far more impact than complex and can convey a message faster. Nice job on this along with the techs. Guidelines can be broken and this is one example. Even though the subject is centered it works with the inclusion of the splash.
    Well done!
