Taken on Espanola in the Galapagos Island.

    Canon 50D
    100-400 @ 180mm
    1/800
    f9
    ISO 200
    Exp. Comp. -1
Cropped a little off the top, left and right. I didn't want to take any more off the left because I like the shadow. Unfortunately, I clipped the very bottom of the tail when taking the shot.

    C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

    Rachel

Hi Rachel That is one good looking bird which I hope to see in person some day :)

I like the look back pose, excellent bird placement just a little more room for the tail at bottom, great looking whites and good shadow detail !! Would clean the ambiance on the rock intersecting the bill ... btw do not mind the head angle a little off since the bird is paying close attention to something, does not detract !! ... hope you got some close up of those awesome feet !!!

Hi Rachel - cool bird - shame about clipping the tail - exposure looks good - nice details in the blacks and whites in check - details are good and nice clear sharp eye.
HA does not bother me either - though some of the more senior members of the HAP may have a issue (Al excepted of course)
    Love those blue feet!!

Hi Rachel, I like the pose. I might crop some from the top to get rid of the darkers areas, and just a bit of guano removal on the rocks. Hope to get there one day, must be magical.

Beautiful image, Rachel. Great detail in the blacks and whites, like the pose and the birds shadow. I would also clean up the rocks near the beak.

Thanks Jackie. And yes, the Galapagos are magical. They should definitely be on your list of places to go.

Thanks Peter. By popular demand, here's a version with the "ambiance", as Al so nicely put it, cleaned up.

Thanks again for all the kind comments,

    Rachel

Ambiance-removal helped; I had to do that with a bunch of my shots. I might have cropped just a bit less from the left, to place the bird a little more per the ROT, but others didn't seem to mind. I might also tone down the dark shadow in the bg so more attention can be given to the bird.
