Default Another Spoonbill; but my first

Photo taken at Merritt Is. in late February. Late afternoon in strong low angle sun. This was my first experience with spoonies. What an afternoon! I like the effect of the refractions caused by the ripples on the water.

Slightly cropped, NR Topaz, USM, twicked the light curve. Cloned some debris off of the water surface.

Hi Richard, Welcome to ETL and BPN! Attractive image for your first post. Good light, head angle, exposure and a sharp enough reflection to hold my interest.(the image would work with or without it)
A good point to remember is to give more room in the image in the direction your subject is facing.
Might take a bit off the back and bottom. Otherwise well handled!

Hi Richard - big warm welcome to BPN - dont hesitate to jump right in and leave comments on other peoples images - no better or faster way to improve your own photography - all we ask is that you say what it is you like or dont like about the image.

A little more space on the LHS for my personal tastes - could always fix the reflection if you so desired.
    Nice first post.

    Keep em coming :)

Welcome to BPN. Nice shot, I would tone down the saturation a bit.

    Big Warm Welcome Richard

Sweet first post Great comments !!! Just to go in a different way would suggest horizontal with very little reflection. ... Just like to see the bird larger in frame and enjoy ! Variations are just personal taste ... fine image. Looking forward to the next one

Welcome and Congrats on your first post. Agree with more room to the left, reds look a little hot. Great HA and eye contact.
    Regards,

Water and reflection are lovely, just desat a bit as mentioned. Really like the gentle ripples in the water too.
