Like your comp here Rachel, do you have any room on top to get that ear in?
As Harshad has said perhaps a touch more contrast & selective USM on the face?

Nice detail. I like the way the mane frames the face and the clarity of the eye.

Thanks Harshad, Marc and Steve. Here's a repost with a small boost in contrast and a selective pass at USM on the face. Marc - this is not cropped at all so no more on top.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel

Hi Rachel Like the tight side view a lot !! Main suggestion I can give is to increase your ISO for more dof !! With these type you want as much as possible for the face !!!

Repost works very well Rachel, my only comment would be to come in slightly from the lhs to remove the dark area just behind the ear.

    Nice one. :)

Nice image. The face is nicely framed by the mane. I like the composition. I agree with Alfred that a narrow aperture would have been good here.

Al - I forgot to ask. How does ISO affect DOF?

    Thanks,
    Rachel

Beautiful portrait, Rachel ! The repost kicked it up a notch ! :)

Not to upstage Al, and he may well have a different take on this, but to me, increasing ISO allows one to stop down the aperture, and when all other parameters are constant, the DOF is increased.

Thanks Bill. So I guess Al was suggesting an f8 or f11 to get more DOF.
