Great takeoff pose, wing position, BG and eye contact. Great to see the nesting hole and partial shadow on the trunk, too. There are some minor artifacts in the BG, probably due to jpg compression. Very well done and I hope you will be able to photograph the fledglings, too.

Undoubtedly, a lot of time was spent to get this shot.

We don't see these in natural cavities much...great find on your part! Great timing, I like the wings-down pose. Good BG too. As Axel mentions, there are various compression artefacts compromising the the IQ of the image.

Beautiful timing! Great down-wing position, and lovely green bg perfectly compliments the Kestral's color. Handsome composition for a full-frame shot. Well done!

Steve, Really nice take-off and the natural nesting hole is a great addition to the image. I think you timed this shot well. Looking forward to seeing more family members:)

Excellent capture, eye contact is great here and so is the inclusion of the cavity, well done. Very good detail for ISO 1000.

    Hi Bob,

I like the feel to the image. Good comments above. As previous stated the pose and earth tones makes the image interesting for me. Visible eye and the beck intersecting the horizon line mentioned. Thanks for sharing.

awesome shot! I can appreciate your patience in getting this. I think posting a smaller size (800 pixels wide) or even cropping closer can provide better IQ without the compression artifacts.
