    Default Eastern Phoebe

Here's one from last week. It was getting dark, so I was pushing my hand-holding limits! Got enough time to fire a short burst of 4 images...2 were too soft (but less than perfect HAs anyways), one was sharp but the head blurred form movement, and this one perfect pose was sharp all the way...great how that happens sometimes!:) Audio used to lure it onto this perch. I never had much luck with this species while using audio, so I was pleased when one finally cooperated.

Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/100s., f/7.1, ISO 800, no EC, natural light, handheld, about 80% full-frame. Throat and chest were pushing hot...burn tool used to tone those down. Dodge tool used to lighten the iris.

Hey Dan, good sharpness considering the ss, and I like angled pose. Lovely mottled colours in the BG too. I feel you could maybe run another round of NR on the BG.

Great handholding technique to get this sharp at 1/100s. Beautiful painterly quality to the bg really makes the shot.
