Default How friendly is Windows 7 with PS5?

    Hello everybody.

I am planning to upgrade my OS to Windows 7 64bit professional edition, I currently have installed Windows XP service pack 3, professional edition 32bit on my computer. My idea is to have access to more RAM but I can't get more than 3.2 gigas of ram in this moment. I have PS5 and I found the computer to be a bit slow when I am processing my images, which by the way are not too large, I have a 30D which produces relatively small files when compared to the newer camera bodies like the 7D or Mk II. My question is: would Windows 7/PS5 combination speed up my workflow?

Your advise and time is much appreciated.

It should make a difference depending on the amount of RAM you have in your computer. If you have more than one hard drive, make sure to you use one for PS and the other one as scratch disk.

Here's the difference in RAM on my machine, which has 8GB of RAM installed:

The 64-bit OS also runs most filters significantly faster than on the 32-bit system.

Agree with David, the upgrade to 7 (64bit) with min 8GB RAM, which is what I have, is definitely worth it.
PS 5 loads & performs very quick.

here is a tool it's FREE that tells you the exact hardware your PC has.

I would run it before your upgrade to make sure you buy to the spec of the pc mobo info before you buy your ram. also run the Win 7 upgrader from MS & download the latest driver before you start your win7 install.

I am currently with win7(x64) and CS5/LR3, there is no compatibility issue at all on my machine.
