I do not like spending time on photoshop, I'd rather delete the image and try again next time. But there are a few images that for some reason i can't get myself to delete and this is one of them.

Adams: I know how good your work can be so I think you should delete and try again. Unfortunately, not being able to see the head of the bird on the left was the main factor for me.

BTW, we met at the Alligator Farm the first week of May. I was in Chas' STL workshop and teased you about Brazil's chances in the World Cup. But seriously, Brazil can never be counted out and the USA will be lucky to get to the quarter-finals. Good luck. Ole, Ole . . . .

I see what you mean Adams! it's hard to click DELETE when you have a picture like this, but I would insist in going out and try again, I know there is never a twin second in life, but we must judge if we want to work hard with the camera or with PS, don't get me wrong, I use PS for all my work, but sincerely I don't see myself fixing clipped wings, that's fairly easy for some BPN members, (like Artie!) but I am definitively one of those! Then get my Lowepro backpack and go out to try again.:D

Fix it if you really like this. I think this one you should fix it. Very good action here !

but I would insist in going out and try again,
You likely will be able to photo two herons fighting each other again. But you unlikely will get them in those poses anymore. No, you can go out and shoot another one but it will not be the same one. So, there's nothing for you to try again anymore :D

    Hi Adams,
Please post your shooting specs so we can see how the image was handled.
Great action but when you get an unexpected event like this it's hard to adjust that quickly with the framing and when one shoots multiple frames you hope for the best.
Great effort and I can realize some of the frustration involved...

    Hi Adams
Really like these interaction type images.
Looks like one for the "Nearly there .....Next time" folder!

    Adams,

Greetings. I suppose one could try to find another GBH with it's beak clasped tightly around another's neck... er, good luck with that ;) ... if it were mine I'd get to PSing...

This shot has me wondering if the caught GBH survived... do you know?

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

    Hi Michael,
The heron flew away just fine.

Awesome action shot. The guy's expression (on the left) steals the scene.

Great action. The hidden face is more detrimental to me than the cut wing. We don;t need to wing to know what's going on, but the other face and interaction would be priceless. I'd keep it too.

I think we get too caught up in perfection. The emotional impact of this image is very strong and only slightly reduced by the clipped wing and slightly covered face. Yeah, with those things fixed this might be an award winner, but it still well exposed, powerful capture of a great behaviour.

Did you shoot a burst? I would guess that you did and this was the best of the lot. However some readers in this Forum may not realize that and don't take full advantage of their cameras.

Sorry it wasn't perfect, but don't delete it. Your emotions are right. This image has much more emotion that many images that we see.
