This Osprey and it's mate return to a piling at the Jamestown, VA ferry dock every year. From the upper deck of the ferry you get a great view down into the nest. This is a rare oppurtunity around here. If you look close you can see the second chicks eye just behind the adults leg. I'm posting this mostly for content but appreciate critique as usual.
Sony A700, 70-400G @230mm, f8, 1/1000, iso500, ev +0.3. levels, curves, boost contrast, darken BG, selective burn on some whites, sharpen, crop 80% of ff
It looks like the adult is standing on the second chick.
There is also an interesting assortment of wood in the nest including a pine cone which seems odd.
Strong light that you exposed well for - whites look good with just a few a tad bright. Interested to see what is in the next including a pine cone. I would suggest cloning out the stick behind the adults head.
I agree with Robert about cloning out the stick behind the adults head.
JMHO, and I'm not very good at PS, so I don't know how much work it would be, but I think taking out the milled piece of wood would also be an improvement.
peter, you have the coolest shooting angle with this nest! i would evict the stick coming out of the adults head. nice job. you will get a kick out of watching the jrs grow up!!!
Hi Peter. Next time I take the ferry I'll remember to try the upper deck! Interesting angle. Not sure what I'm seeing, but it does look as if the adult is standing on the second chick. A few white spots seem a bit hot to me, but otherwise exposure looks good. Nice environmental shot.
Interesting, unusual angle. Well exposed Very good detail in the adult. agree remove the stick come out of the head. Might crop a little from the right.
