Close the to skimmer colony there are terns nesting close. Liked the crushed shell ground which seems to be their favorite for nesting.

    Comments welcome and much appreciated

Like the raised wings, the eye contact, and the gentle slope. The crushed shells are really nice too. Nice job!

A very nice composition Al, but the crushed empty shells really adds to the setting, great.

BTW what was the comp, 0?

A beauty indeed. Love how the shells act as a giant reflector and light up the underside. The slight slope works very well in this image. Great pose captured.

Worked out well. I like the layers of colors all positioned well in relation to the bird.

... hi Steve I take the reading from the sky + 1 works out to neutral green foliage, this was probably + 1/3

Well done Alfred! I would like to point out that the foreground is not out of focus, and you did well with the F9. Why I mention this is that, in my opinion of course, OOF foregrounds, especially when they obscure important elements like feet, are rarely an asset. They occasionally do work if the subject appears to be suspended in a cloud, but this requires not just the back and front elements being completely OOF, but sides elements as well.
    Good work as always!! regards~Bill
