Ian I think you have run the NR a tad too high making the image very smooth lossing detail & depth, plus have not masked out the actual animal. Is it possible to go back to your settings for NR and confirm what you used, was it default, strong etc?

You need to make a duplicate layer of your original having worked on it, add NR to the original then sharpen the duplicated layer and using a mask bring it back in. At present the image does not look right, although it does have an illustrative feel.

I would prefer details and am not too bothered by the noise. In this case, the noise reduction appears to have been too strong.

    Ian,
The rabbit looks better. He looks like he's running on a bed of dried up pond moss? If it is, the texture of that is really soft and featureless which would look even more so with NR run on it. Try selecting just the eye and give it a little boost in contrast for some "pop" and color.

Thanks, Steve. Yes, that is dried-up moss and it really is featureless. I'll try your suggestion with the eye.
