This little fellow is a mute swan cygnet. I captured him at Colonel Sam Smith Park in Toronto in the evening using a Nikon D200 with a 300 f4 and a 1.4 teleconverter.
His parents brought he and his siblings so close that I couldn't focus on them. This was taken when they were a little further away.

Post included a couple of small retouches, a lot of adjustments to bring up the golden light and keep him from being underexposed.
Thank You for looking,

Clive - A very cute little guy (or gal) ! Needs some cw rotation to level the bird and ripples. Looks as if you did all you could to preocess this well with tough light. You receoverd some nice feather detail. I wish there were not the dark area in the BG but what you were given is what you got!
Hi Clive can only imagine the little guy with an all yellow/gold bg !! Did well with the exposure, nice highlight detail !! Hope you get more chances at this little guy !!!
HI Clive - good advice from Sandy - Cool little guy. As AL mentioned if you can isolate him from the other BG elements in some nice gold water - will be a winner.
Good show :)
Hi Clive, agree with comment regarding CW rotation and a cleaner backround. The mottled backround is now competing with you center of interest. Good space in front of bird but the right is a bit close to the edge...otherwise good pose and detail...
