    This was taken handheld from a 500 foot cliff top above the Hudson River. The bird was 60 feet below my position. The green BG is tree tops that are several hundred feet below the bird. Slight crop from full frame 1120mm.
    1D mark III, 800 + 1.4x, iso 1250, f13, 1/160.

    Hi Herb,
    Interesting angle on this shot. Nice feather detail as well. About the only thing that I personally would be tempted to change would be to darken the background somewhat. Other than that it is a nice capture of a difficult subject. Congratulations!

    A different perspective with good DOF. I personally would reduce the saturation on the greens and tone down the black in the BG.

    I like this a lot. The shooting angle doesn't bother me. Another image that makes me feel how much I would love to own the 800 f5.6...:cool:

    Thanks for all of the comments guys. I reduced the saturation of the BG and toned down the black in the BG as suggested.
