Layton, a very interesting image! I really like the reflection and subdued colors - very peaceful. I'd like to see a bit more detail in the dark trees, if possible. and in the small cloud. Cheers -
Hi Layton, IMO the repost is better. Good mirror reflection of an interesting subject. Taken in rather dull light which to my eye is making it a bit flat. I think you did as best you could under the circumstances...
I agree, Layton, the repost is improved. I would be even more aggressive in bringing out the detail in the trees and the reflections.
Very nice contrasts in the trees. I also set white point on the mountains but masked it out for the sky and the reflected sky at
bottom, to retain the blue and pop the mountains out a bit more. Like this:
Just a matter of my personal preferences, but see what you think.
Hey Layton,
Very good advice given above. I think your repost was a move in the right direction and David's repost brought out the treeline nicely....but gave the mountains almost a 3d look....which is kind of cool but I felt they needed to be a touch darker.
I used snaller layer and masks from levels to B/C and in different areas. I did also a S/H adjustment and some color correction layers.....mostly in the treeline. I think the potential and detail is there and while I agree the light wasn't your best friend that day....you did handle it well. Let me know your thoughts.
I'm looking at the 2 now.....snow should be somewhere in between mine and David's I think!
PS....go with Daivds....just perhaps a bit of green in the MG?

I like how you framed this image leaving a good amount of room on the top and bottom. On the left and right, the terminus at the mountains does not lead my eye out of the image. I try not to cut on a downwards slope.
As far as the reposts, all are interesting but you mentioned that this is an evening image and to me your OP conveys that best. Mountains have a strong blue color cast and the tree line is dark but has good shadow details IMO.
