Don't think I cloned out anything in this image, which was taken two weeks ago -- left all the twigs "as is." And i left some of them a bit hot, as well. I'm hoping the OOF yellow flower works OK with the red colors on the finch. Suggestions welcomed . . .

I like the idea Wendell. The colours are lovely. I personally like the tangle that forms the perch for the bird but you could lose that OOF ginger brown seed head near the bird's head (and the one down by the flower)- the upper one would be a difficult fix though! Love the pose and head angle. The bird is overall a little soft but looking at your techs I'm not sure what the cause it. Is that lens up to the challenge of a 2x converter? Another round of sharpening of the bird may work for you but it depends on the detail you have there to begin with. Sharpening won't make something out of nothing. Nice House Finch.

Hi John: I implemented all your suggestions and my image is now much better. The additional sharpening helped a lot -- don't know why I didn't see that before. That 70-200VR lens is very good, but I am beginning to believe the 2X does degrade my images too much (thanks for further confirmation). Though very common in these parts, I believe the House Finch is a beautiful bird. I appreciate your thoughtful comments.

Why don't you post the new version? It would be great to see what you did!

I really like the repost Wendell. Very well done! (I noticed you balied out of getting rid of all the stalk to the right of the bird. I don't blame you!

John, I'm glad you liked the repost. I thought I'd better stop where I did or I'd be a very long time in finishing. My PP skills are elementary and rather slow. By the way, I looked at your Gallery, etc., for the first time. Many of your images took my breath away . . . and I do like your wet bird dry bird classification.
