The adult is a little wet from the water and I liked the way it was fluffing it's feathers.
I had to try to keep my shutter speed up since the chick would run out from under the adult as they would make their way back from the water. I did warm up the image a little.

Hi Denise, good eye contact from both, and I like the curvature of the sand in front of them. Overall, well exposed too.

Great to see both together and the little one really has an attitude. Sharpness looks good, too. Did you add the catchlight of the chick in postprocessing? I wish there were more eye contact with the adult bird.

    Thanks Stuart and Axel.
Axel, I just used Tim Grey's non-destructive dodge application to lighten the glint that was already in the eye. Then added a tiny catchlight on top of it.

loved the whites here Denise, the other colours add good contrast to the frame, nice sharpness too and and also a lovely artistic touch to the frame..

The chick is so cute, amazing how such a fragile creature can survive the cruel nature!!! excellent details and like the "white on white" exposure. TFS Denise!!!

Lovely image. Excellent details in highlights, tender moment captured, and I love the comp with the birds at the bottom of the bowl of sand - the eye keeps coming right back to the subjects like a gravitational pull. Well done!

    Denise,

The curvature of the sand makes the centralized placement work well. Of course you know I like the high-key look.
