From the kayak... a little late in the morning, light is a bit harsher than I'd preferred.

    Lovely photo.
I like how the egret is nice and square to the camera with a slight head turn toward you and the eye is still visible.

Captured the action at an ideal time. I like the splash.

The bg could be blurred a bit if you liked.

The kayak provides an ideal low shooting angle.

Hi Bob, Good low angle with nice action. As you mentioned the light is a bit harsh which does take away from the overall. For my taste I would crop the image just below the dark line in the backround. Almost like a pano since I find the line distracting. I would take out the bright area on the left and the 2 circles above the splash...

Hi bob - agree with the above comments - dark line is distracting - but BG is what it is also - so unless you are happy to remove it in P.S. - a crop is the only other option.
Not a Fan of removing things - but to each their own and its whatever you feel comfortable with.
Like the low shooting angle - pity about the harsh light.

Amazing how close you can get to these guys when the are concentrating on fishing - I sat about 15 feet away from a white faced heron yesterday afternoon for about 90 min whilst he fished in this one spot - seen him there every afternoon - must be a fine fishing spot!!
