    nothing really special here - just thought id share this record shot of a Noisy Pita from my trip to Far North Queensland last year. Very hard to get these guys out in the open - spend most of their time hopping around the rain forest floor.
    Sighted only 3 times in a week - and only once did he venture out into a clearing.

    Nikon 500mm F4
    1.7X Converter
    F6.7
    1/200TH
    800 ISO
    SB900 WITH BB
    Manual flash @ 1/2 (From memory)
    Handheld - laying on ground

    Be careful with slow shutter speeds and long focal lengths --- takes practice and a steady hand to use slow SS -.

    Glad you found one in the open Lance, one good looking bird it is and were able to get a good low shot !!!

    ...nice work at that low speed, practice will make a difference !!

    Good looking bird and good for you to stay with it and get the shot.

    I like the colours.

    I might try to sort out the catch lights a bit.

    what a beautiful species!! in this instance, the highlights on the grass dont bother me. they arent blown out and actually compliment the darker bird. as always, nice job with the slower ss.:)
