At the rookery in the Everglades, shot from the canoe
sony a700, 70-400mm
1/1250, f5.6, ISO 400, @ 400mm
Cropped and I had to remove some serious mangrove leaves behind the baby pelican heads,
Thanks for looking

Connie:
Good story telling here. Like feeding and particularly the back chick, who looks like he is saying, what about me!
Exposure good except for just a hot on the adults head. A little more DOF would have been nice as well.
I like the crop, nice PP work.
Cheers

It's great being able to see the eyes of so many birds in one frame. You definitely got the right moment! From my experience in my kayak, 1/1250 is really pushing it for getting sharp images. Looks like you did well in this case though.
TFS!
Great moment caught here...really something special
Very nice behavioral image, Connie, and one exciting moment to witness. Agree with Randy's evaluation, and thanks so much for sharing :)
Thank you all, appreciate the feedback. The reason I use the sony camera is for its built-in stabilization, which IMO, is very effective. I feel it helps to overcome the limitations of being in a boat.
Also, the third pelican that is looking on eagerly appears to be the runt of the litter. I hope it survives the constant sibling rivalry for food and space.

I like the captured interaction and the fact that the angle is not too steep. Another vote for toning down the whites.
Composition works for me but the most I like in this image is the timing and the fact that the birds looks really undisturbed, each one looking to a different direction. Very nice one :)
