Whilst I like this bull and the giraffe in the background, I'm not sure whether the crop works and am interested in opinions. It is almost full frame, I've taken just a smidge off the lhs and from the top. Would loved to have had more room to make a more pano crop but not to be.

    Hi Hilary

i like the colours in this one, the Ellies are nice & red In Lewa as they are in Samburu, the comp works ok for me the giraffes balance the BG nicely , i would put a bit more of the sky in so it dosn't look so cramped though

    well done

    Hi Hilary

Certainly unusual regarding the content, as normally we see only one or two animals within the shot. Having so many Giraffes it almost looks like a backdrop from a film set.:) You captured some good detail in the Elephant and that great red colour, typical of Samburu. I agree with Ken that it is just too tight at the top and does need more room. Not sure if you crop just below the start of the Giraffes and lose them it strengths the image just with the Elephant? The most Giraffes I have seen in one go was 28 in Botswana, but still like the uniqueness of this.

Love the colour, detail. I think you need the Giraffes and I agree with you - a more pano crop would make the image, pity you don't have it. Might be worth while trying to add it in PS if you had other images with the same BG.

Hi Hilary, this is a really nice picture. I dont know how much you cropped already though, as I agree with Ken and Steve about more sky if available. I would even add a tiny bit more below the elephant as well if you have it. Also agree with above opinions that this is a strong enough shot to work either as a crop of the elephant only, or with the giraffe, both are very good compositions. Fantastic colours on the elephant. Well done

    Hilary,
This image is much different than the normal elephant facing left or facing right image. The giraffes make a lot of difference and this image can find applications. Agree that some more space at the top would have been good. A lower angle here would have helped, as it might have shown the giraffes framing the elephant.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

Hi Hilary Sure like the settings with so many giraffes behind, only more room would have made it better particularly on top !! Like it a lot !!!

Good shot Hilary. Like the giraffes on the top and as mentioned, add some sky so as not to impinge so much. Reticulated giraffes and a Grevy's Zebra. Pretty cool.
