    Hello Oscar,

Never easy to get one in flight and you did that well here with a pleasing wing-up positioning.

I tried some additional post processing and uploaded the results. Here is what I did.

    1) Levels adjustment to lighten image overall.
    2) Reverse S Curve to brighten water. Masked out bird.
    3) Selective Color adjustment - added black to blacks (amp up the blacks for punch) and white (lower intensity of whites)
    4) Crop to pano.
    5) Sharpened.

The white on the noise is still toasty and lacking detail in the original. Try processing again with the whites coming in at a lower level. Do you use Camera Raw, recovery slider may help here.

    The bill lost its color!
Something wrong with you monitor? Your colors seems off as of lately.

    Hi Robert

The re post looks washed out and I think its the reverse curve, can work at times but does more harm than good. Do not like the re post, sorry.

Will PM David Thomasson see if he wants to give it a try !

Hi..agree that the repost has lost some color referring to the beak and the backround.
The light did take away alot of the detail in the whites so it looks like 9:30 was a bit late...

Harsh light was the problem OZ - tough birds in anything but soft light - IMHO
(Have lots of B&W birds in OZ - Why I love overcast days)

Think the additional sharpening on the repost is good - But the colours and the dead looking water don't do a lot for me - JUST IMHO!!!

To respond to some of the comments above.

I forgot to resaturate the bill's red after downloading the image. Seems I get a color shift when I download JPG's from here and it does not matter which computer I am on, calibrated monitor or not. So I need to add some saturation on the final rework to get the colors back where they need to be.

In the repost I saturated the red and added magenta using selective color. A little more red then orange now but the OP can change to his liking.

Water's color is practically neutral (somewhat more dominate towards red and green then blue but not much), giving the image an overall gray look. In the final image I lightened the water but the overall relation of RGB remains the same. I cropped the image to minimize the water and give the bird more prominence.

Robert the the repost of the repost does not look good at all, look at the pretty water of the original post ...it is gone, looks like an artificial backdrop? All texture is gone and it is probably from the reverse curve, sorry don't like it at all.

I saved the tiff I did and checked it. I did not do a reverse s curve but a curve adjustment to lighten the water. As far as the water goes, I prefer it lighter, you darker for the reasons you mentioned. I am OK with that.

If you have any suggestions as to why I am getting this color skewing that affected this post I would be interested in hearing it. Thanks.

    Hi Robert

I have to go from you said you did in step #2 you clearly mentioned ....2) Reverse S Curve to brighten water. Masked out bird. Did you or didn't you? In either case the water is bleashed out like the wildlife post.

I like being able to see the water and not a gray mass without detail which is what you have in both re posts.

Would be best to let David do a repost and will see the difference. How you got there I don't know since I did not see the steps taken, would only be guessing. One thing that I know for a fact, the reverse curve is useful in very few images, will kill contrast making most look bad.... and if using just do the ones built into curves in PS and apply, no bid deal. Best to stay away from them.

Hi guys ... sorry I overlooked the PM notice at the top of my screen, so I'm late to this party. :o

Not a lot to be done for the blurred subject, but I tried S/H and a little painting on a blank soft light layer to bring out the details a little better.
Topaz Detail on the water to enhance the larger ripples. Neutralized the water with the gray dropper.

Of you you wanted a little blue in the water ...
