Default Can You See It ?

Not sure what the largest image can be on the longest side and to be upfront I was already typing up what I was going to write in here and didn't search to check it out - So Let me know what I did wrong via PM or E-Mail.

I haven't gotten out in a bit of a long time - I haven't posted something I shot in even longer - but was determined to throw everything away and get to the beach. I Lost the good light fast but had a nice afternoon hanging out on the beach listening to the ocean and birds...

    7D, 600+1.4
    F/5.6, 1/1250th, ISO-400

Probably should have been stopped down for both more sharpness and more DOF to grab the second bird, but we know how quick these things happened - I just wasn't fast enough.

    Thanks for looking...

    TFS.
This shot would have been much better if you move left so the leg was not in front of the beak of the second bird.
From this angle, can you really get both of them in focus? What kind of fstop would work here?

Thanks Troy, whats "TFS" in your post there?

    EXIF Posted.

Would have loved to move left but I was planted on my belly and the action happened. So it is what it is.

I hope the winky smile is there for sarcasm, because the EXIF was posted in the original post - no edits :) :) :)

    Thanks for the TFS answer...

Hey Dustin , good to see you got out for a while. DOF issues aside this is a fine image. Nice interaction/behavior. Love the low angle , but once you plant yourself it is difficult to move around. I think you did well given the conditions. Like riding a bike , you never for get.

I'm perfectly fine with the DOF here. The front bird is the main focus of the image, with the far one simply a part of the "landscape", if you will, and is some distance away anyways. I do wish the bill and leg weren't merged though, but that is the type of luck (sometimes good, sometimes bad) we are sometimes dealt with:). Nice low angle, and I like the darkish end-of-day light. I'd likely clone out the bit of greenery in LRC and the piece of debris near your "DF" signature.

I really like the effect of the shallow dof. Allows all my attention to fall on the stretcher. Detail, pose, habitat, even the soft light, all add up to make this a great image to enjoy.

Dustin, I love seeing the details in the feather area on the leg. Habitat included is a nice touch.:)

    Thanks everyone!

Daniel - good point about the greenery on the lower right - I should drop that - I never thought of the debri on the lower left - I will see how that masks out.

    Thanks everyone for looking..

I would say that the main subject it the leg and wing stretch. With that, the DOF is perfect. Since the second bird is out of focus, we are immediately drawn to the main subject.
