    Bad photo of a what appears to me to be some type of grosbeak. Can you help id.

    It looks like a male House Finch to me.

    I agree, House Finch male. Similar species would be Purple Finch but note less red on this bird, more orangy-red, streaking. Compare with this bird:http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=65353
    which I think is a House Finch too.
