The big winds we had here yesterday got rid of most of the pollutants in the air as it was cleaner this morning than I have seen it in a long, long time. Made for a stellar morning and some great opportunities for flight shots.

    Joe:

Very nice wing position, angle in frame, clean BG.
Good catchlight, very important in a dark eyed bird with dark cap.
    Whites on rump on borderline.

I mentally tried a couple different crops, esp. with bird placed a bit higher, might be worth a quick look.

    Cheers

    Randy

Joe, agree with Randy on placing the bird a little higher. As-is, there is a little extra negative space on top I think. Sharp bill pointing downwards takes the eyes quickly in that direction.

Otherwise, loved this one a lot. Beautiful light and sky color. Yellow contrasting really well with the blue. Bird nicely oriented...flying slightly towards the camera. awesome wing position. Thx for sharing.

I like the wing position and eye contact and would crop it a bit tighter. I might also try to get more details in the blacks.

Really like the sky you got to capture, lovely blue with this bird against it really outstanding. Like the bird position where it is if only because the wing position is straight down, giving the sense of the flapping which allows for the space up and to the right for the bird to "Move Into"...

Just the way I see it really - plus of course - I'm jealous you had such great weather for your trip out there :)

Joe, Nice wing position and blue BG. Agree w/ Randy that placing the bird higher might be nice. Glad to hear you had a good morning:)
