Default Black Crowned Night Heron juvie

From last summer at Jamaica Bay W. R. Hide by a pond.
Cropped and toned down some hot spots on the pads.
Didn't work on the bird. Focus seems to be on the log.:(

    Thanks for C&C, and looking,:)

The eye of the bird does look sharp enough for me here. Love the environmental background and good pose by the bird. I might crop a little of the left, and the sticking out branch on the perch distracts me a bit.

Agree with comments and would also like more room at the bottom for the toenail !! A little bump in contrast will also help ! might want to try the pre-sets in LR The linear contrast works fine but do play with all of them !! Useful !!

btw I think the original might be sharp enough .. would go with more sharpening. Did the mentioned pre set curves, cropped form the back, went over the bird with the burn tool at 15% then lightly blurred the bg and last some sharpening. btw is always good to recompose of move points to compose !!! Got a keeper !!!

Hi Anne - AL'S repost nailed it!!
Like this a lot - Good HA - Clear sharp eye and the included habitat adds to the story.
    Just some minor tweaks!!

Great capture. On first look I thought it needed some contrast, and Al's repost hit it. I might even go with a bit more contrast. Love the habitat and the focused stare.

Thank-You Thanaboon, Al, Lance and Bill.

Al, Love your re-post! Such subtle changes make all the difference!!! One big problem I have is over-working, once I start. Will go back to the original, and try to make it look like yours.:D

Hi Ann, I agree,Al's repost corrected some elements I was thinking about when I first saw the image. The bird is sharpened in the repost and due to the blurring of the backround and crop the subject really stand out...

Repost is very nice and I like the included habitat.

It just needs a bit of room at bottom.

I really like the pose you were able to get. Good one.
