    Juvi Tricolored heron at Gatorland Rookery. This kid is still in the nest, not yet ready to fly. I tried to achieve here an in focus beak and enough background blur given its lack of separation from its siblings (which are the background).

    This is nearly full frame. minor crop on the bottom to eliminate those white flowers. I used the nik filter lighten center/darken borders as well on it.

    Thing that spoils it to my eye is the eyes not being in focus, other wise great image and well taken

    Looks like he was having a bad hair day. Beak is pin sharp, so you achieved what you set out to do. Agree however with Peter that the OOF eyes spoil it a bit.:)

    The beak is sharp, and you sure have captured a funky hairdo. ( looks like he's standing under static lines ) Focussing in the middle of the beak may have had the eyes falling in the DOF range.

    gonna check my focus point. I figured at f/18 I'd have had enough dof....:confused:
