I've been out to the "harvest garden" at my local botanical garden twice this year and both times this blue bottle has sat here on the end of a piece of rebar in the middle of these plants. I know the garden is all natural/organic in every way - including the bean poles, fences, etc. I can't seem to ever find a gardener to tell me what's with the blue bottle, though. Anybody know? I figure it's got to go back to the old days of farming but even my mom who grew up on a farm didn't know why these blue bottles were here. I'm dying to solve the mystery!

Solved it! Ken Childs found some other bottles on their blog and they do it for decoration! Thanks Ken!

Glad you solved this one Jules. Would have had me puzzled quite a bit. Love the blue which comes from cobalt (I think).

It could also save you from being stabbed to death if you tripped and fell on the rebar.

All good answers! I thought for sure it was a way to trap insects...guess I was wrong!
