Another find on the St. Lawrence river. After finding the nesting Osprey we found an island full of GBH's and Cormorant's. Here is one of a GBH banking overhead.

I like the eye contact, pose and cloudy sky. There seems to be a lack of fine details. Did you run NR on the plumage? There is also a slight sharpening halo around the bird. You can prevent this by decreasing the selection by a pixel or so before sharpening.

    Jeff:

Good critique from Axel, hit the high points. The exposure here is better than on your osprey, with more underwing light. I do think just a touch of +EC would have opened up the underwing area even more, and perhaps reduced the noise brought up in post. Not much EC, or you would lose the whites.

    Cheers

    Randy

Thanks Axel. Since my Photoshop skills are still lacking (Selection) I did run NR on the whole photo. Any advice on Photoshop books would be appreciated.

Jeff, there is a lot of good information in the tutorial forum. Check out this thread: http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ead.php?t=6040
