    Default what filters ? canon 18-135mm & 100-400mm

Yahoo, just placed my order for a 7d w 18-135mm, what filter do I need that I can leave on for protection? Also, I will be purchasing the Canon 100-400mm as soon as I know what filter you would recommend for that sweet lense! Thanks, and boy am I excited! Any suggestions about a 7d book for beginners? thanks

My experiences tell me that you likely get responses that suggest you not use to filter. But if you do want to have one at least just for the peace of of mind, then get something decent.

Would recommend no filter for protection ! Your best bet is using the lens cap and hood !! btw for the 100-400 the hood is a pain so I use a rubber lens hood ( collapsible ) It comes from a Mamiya camera I think an 2 1/4 RB !

Agree, I purchased the 100-400 rubber-hood per Al's suggestion and it is easy to handle and collapsible as mentioned.

Agree with Desmond too, no protection filter between lens and subject. Most do not want to filter the lens quality.
