Still cleaning up form the San Diego trip !!! Pelican returning to the cliffs at La Joya !! For this location you need an East wind in the morning and you would clean up !! Sun coming up over the cliffs, soft light and the Pacific Ocean as a bg !! One stunning place !! .... never got a good East morning wing ... will be back !! ... btw got this one up a few hours ahead of schedule but will be getting in late tonight ... skimmers :)

    Comments welcome and much appreciated

Hi Al, nice example of good detail, sharpness, lighting and wingspread. I also like the slight angle the of the bird. Well handled...

Great detail and exposure. No halo or color aberration around the feathers on the wingtips which is a frequent problem. I have seen the problem even wo sharpening thus not due to sharpening effect. How did you avoid it?

    Thanks

Hi Ray The halos come lots of time form shadow/highlight I just about gave up on using but in CS5 seems to work well and no halos, using the stock setting and backing down a bit.

very nice Al, excellent wing position, looks like lots of nice files from Nikon days!

BTW, for HLS I just select the birds and feather 1 pixel then highlight shadow so it won't create the infamous halo around the bird!

Arash I did some for this one with not feathering, not sure why is working so well but it does. Still trying things out which is best way to go ... letting everybody see it and get caught :) btw try it and let me know what you thing, just the standard settings that the program has .. no changes.
