    Default Converging Lines

I think that the converging lines in this image add a sense of depth - not a lot, but some. If I had been trying for a 3D look when I shot it, I guess I could have controlled the DOF to add even more depth to the scene. I will think about that when I shoot this type of scene from now on... :) This one was grabbed quickly from the car window as we were stopped on the tracks for a minute or so waiting for the cars in front to move.

Canon 50D with kit zoom lens, 1/60 at f18 and ISO 100. Post Processing - A slight crop and the usual basic processing with added Orton and contrast for some drama.

Patti, I love the effect. The converging lines in this image DO add a sense of depth. I might clone the signs if it were mine. I like placement of the tracks in the frame. Nice work:)

Hi Patti;Although it has a great deal of depth, I think it is an incredible photograph for other reasons. It is exceedingly well balanced compositionally with the red focal point, leading lines leading to the tunnel, and a dark foreboding background. In addition it looks like a old hand tinted photograph. Excellent!! regards~Bill

Pattie I really like your effect, remind me of an oil painting. Probably just me but I'd take a big crop from the top. And clone out the green tree in the shadow. Otherwise I really like it.

    Hey Patti,
Great use of the Orton effect! I know I'm late to the party but did you consider bringing out some more of the details in the tunnel/tree area. I think some selective dodging and burning (especially tunnel area) will take this to a Thimas Kincaid painting level!!! Very dramatic!
