Not sure how I could check on the amount.
Yes, I did crop the pic. Let me know how I could give you a tech amount of cropping.
    Is it that bad?

Hi Troy - we have been having a interesting discussion here http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=64914
About cropping wit BIF. Worth a read.

Have not come up with a sure fire way to determine the cropping amount.

No its not bad at all!!! Was just wondering based on the discussion above!!

Like the flight position - Colours look great and exposure looks right on the money.
    Like it a lot!!

Thank you Lance. I will read that for sure.
Just to show you, here is the full frame from the camera. Is that considered a big crop?
I will only keep the image if the details are there after cropping. If loosing too much, it is a delete for me.

Hi Troy Excellent processing Just enhancing and subtle changes Like how you got the tree out form the beak !!

The crop amount is reasonable particularly for the D700 !!

Thank you Al. I actually overexposed the neck area a bit, but able to pull back some details.
This is a good example of the situation that I wish I have more reach fill the frame as much as I could but at the same time, at 6.14am, DX body would have have higher noise at ISO1K, NR would have caused it to lose details in the feathers.

Often time, when I see pay put a percentage on their crop, I wonder how it is measured. It always confuses me. :)

Looks good Troy, like the head angle and nice separation with BG, wings full up position will improve this shot (IMO)

James, this is the original time stamp: Date and Time (Original): 2010:05:15 06:147.90-04:00
Unless my D700 is an hour behind, I better check that. :p
I only use burn tool to dark some bright spots in the BG.

James, you were right. Just checked my D700, time is an hour off. Oops... I bet that got you thinking uh? Maybe I was shooting with D4 :p
