I was inspired by all the other photos of Frigates to post one of mine. Taken on Genovesa Island in the Galapagos in April 2009.

Rachel, he was hitting on you. :)
Wish he was looking at you, maybe he was a bit shy.

Fantastic, Rachael! Amazing that you were able to get so close. Knowing the difficulty of getting a good angle from the path, I can't fault the head angle at all. I'm envious; never got any Frigatebird image like this from my trip. Don't know if it's possible to sharpen the eye area just a bit more?

Thanks Troy and Bill. I actually have a ton of close up, inflated frigate birds but the HA always seems to be the problem. I'll try to selective sharpen the eye area some more. Bill - I actually found taking shots of their full bodies more difficult because there were usually so many branches. I did not get any great BIF of them. Thanks again, Rachel

Rachel, that makes sense. With that big pouch, hard to get it right.
Well, I will know this weekend as I am going out to the rookery here that is full of them.

Troy - good luck. I hope you get lots of inflated frigates with good HA. Btw I've got a couple of 2 males locked in combat, interesting behavior but really hard to shoot. I'll try to remember to post one of those.

Hi Rachel - agree with the HA comments - but assume you were limited by what you could do in terms of moving.
Agree a bit of a head turn towards you would be preferable - but this is not too bad - eye still clearly visible and good display.
    Colours look good.
    Keep em coming :)

Thanks Lance for the kind comments. Yes, you are very much limited by the paths.

Hi Rachel Just like that image and sort of like the head angle.... if you look at the pupil it is looking straight at you !!! .. think Troy is right Big Congrats Would only try to lighten the iris and darken the pupil .. killer image !!!

Thanks Al and Ann. Al - I tried to play with the eye and was able to lighten the iris very slightly but most of the eye is a reflection of the sky so I couldn't do anything with the pupil. Any suggestions how to deal with this or is there nothing that can be done?

    Here's a repost. Thanks,

    Rachel
