    Default Tri Color Heron

Almost full frame...less than 40 feet away...had too much lense for many shots. The Herons were feeding in the NW corner. Fun trying to get the shot as they do their over the water surface fly by. Green Cay will be closed on 6/4....heard they are planting trees closer to the boardwalks to attract nesting birds like at Wakodahatchee....this place will be rocking in a few years...maybe another Gatorland?????

    Hi Ken,
Nice top view and wing position, i think the composition is a little tight.

Nice to hear Ken Sure would like seeing birds closer for the most part !!!

I agree Adams...wish I had more room on the left for the Heron to fly in to...but I was actually lucky on this one...he was so close...only slightly cropped top and bottom. Thanks

Hi Ken - excellent flight position - like the top view - easy to add a little more canvas to the left if that fits with your ethics.
Agree with AL - bird might be a little dark.
    Good show :)

Others have already mentioned the wing position and turn toward camera. I also like the details in the feathers and the
overall painterly feel. Main place I'd focus post-processing is on the weak contrast between subject and background.
I would lighten the background so the darker bird stands out more, then bring out the bird's details a little more (curves &
S/H). I agree with Lance about a bit more canvas on the left.

Very nice pose, wing position. Nice and sharp. I like the small amount of light on the birds rear end, it's a very nice touch.

Tough working from the posted file since the color was dark Here is a reference bird as to the typical color for an adult in average light.

All is fine with the bird .. just need to process Ken.

Great flight shot, with good wing position and feet dangling down. I like the contrast in David's repost, but actually like the colors, at least the saturation of the yellows, in the OP -- they may not be accurate for the bird, however. Would certainly consider adding some canvas to the left on the OP, to give him some room to stretch his neck.
