    Default Singing White-throated Sparrow

    This is the same sparrow as my previous post. Does singing add to the image?

    Nikon D200
    Nikon 70-300 4.5-5.6G VR
    280 mm
    1/640 sec at f8
    ISO 400
    Hand held

    Hi Tom, singing does add to the image, although there seems to be some movement in the lower mandible, faster than your shutter speed. Nice use of DOF to get the bird sharp all around and partially blur the BG. Good EXP control.

    Good points by Fabs. I might be tempted to burn in the lighter OOF needles in LLC.
    I might have been tempted to try a version with a much larger f/stop at the original capture and see how the effect helped blur the BG a bit more, make the bird pop. Yes, the entire bird might not be as sharp as here, but it might give the bird a bit more separation from the BG.
