Photographed in the dense forests of South India . I could have brightened the image more , but wanted to show the exact lighting here . Thanks for viewing

I presume you were using a tripod:)

My only slight criticism would be that the edge of the head looks a little too sharp, but it is stiill a great result given the conditions.

Hi Vinay, typical Leopard pose, nice & relaxed.

Might try to lighten it overall as it just looks a bit flat. Also would suggest next time cranking up the ISO to improve your shutter speed, certainly to 800, beyond that, plus the little light you had would introduce far more noise. The small, thin branch behind the Leopard is slightly distracting, but there is nothing you can do sadly.

Curves - lighten, Levels brought up, fraction of saturation on Leopard only, small amount of NR applied to BG only. Hope this helps

Spectacular animal and a languid pose. The repost is a big improvement. There is possibly a green cast....

opinions differ. Both post-processes are great, still I prefer the original. The 'answer' might be somewhere in the middle.

Interesting paradox about whether the original light as we remember it is best -or- what the viewer expects/likes. FWIW, I generally go for my viewer since I'm trying to communicate with them.

I can agree with this, there is often too much emphasis in altering images for greater pop and and this often leads to unnatural colours.
Vinay said he "wanted to show the exact lighting here", as colour is determined by light the image should be relatively dull as posted it reflects the conditions under which the image was taken.

    Hi Vinay,
    Is this from Kabini?

The shutter speed is often very less due to the low light levels. And most often in the evening sightings, you will find it dark and gloomy. This image shows the situation prevailing at that time. Nevertheless, increasing the brightness without changing the white balance or saturation would help.

Some sharpening artifacts are visible. I agree that increasing the ISO to 800 would have helped a bit (1/80th of shutter speed vs 1/40th). Still, it would need all your technique to capture a sharp shot, as someone or the other moves in the vehicle. Nevertheless, a nice pose and eye contact. I like the composition. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

Loved it! I think that the idea of shoing the exact light is good nontheless hereīs my repost. Hope you donīt mind, I used Curves in PS to improve the WB.
