    Default Titmouse in Cherry

This is a tufted Titmouse I caught earlier in the spring in a cherry tree in my yard. To me, while the bird is in focus, and I think that the head angle is right, the image is somehow missing something. It doesn't say anything. Maybe that is because it isn't showing a behavior and is just a 'bird on a stick?' Or is there something more?

    Comments and critiques welcome.

Hi, The image is not showing well due to the heavy bluish color caste. I took that out using a very difficult method.
I clicked auto levels.. Sometimes this works great and other times it doesn't. I then used a nik(plug in) warming filter to add warmth. I then gave it a contrast adjust and added some canvas to the left. I also cropped a bit off the top.
After all that what is hurting the image is the OOF blossom that pulls my eye to it.
I did the corrections quickly so they might not be as exact as I would like.

FWIW, agree about having blue cast. Different way of "correcting" it in Photoshop using Adjustment Layer - Color Balance. Also sharpened a bit, maybe not enough.

I still think it needs/ has in it a little more pop.

Hi Chris - this is an excellent capture! You have a good head angle, sharp eye, and excellent detail. I think you could do more in the PP to bring out the features of this image.

I took the liberty of making some color balance and hue/saturation adjustments. I ended up in pretty much the same place as Tom as far as color and added a bit more sharpening. It feels a bit tight on the left to me. Good job!

Wow, thanks, folks! I just could not SEE that bluish cast, but you are right, that was a big issue! I guess after a while you don't see something, because you imagine how you saw it in real life!

I kind of liked the cherry blossom, because it added color and showed what kind of tree it was. But now that I see it without, I agree it is cleaner looking.

Thanks VERY much to all of you for your help.

Oh, and the problem was that the cherry blossom wasn't in focus - if it had been, then it would have been a plus, I think. But as it was, it was a distraction.

I agree I like it with more canvas to the left as well - you guys are great!
