I have certainly seen many nice photos where the background bird is OOF, but typically not so prominent as this one. I would like comments on the composition.

I did do a "wing repair" on the in-focus bird which is far from perfect, but within my capabilities and limited time.

Hi Michael Your wing repair was fine, would suggest doing the work at 100% so you can see fine detail and clean it up !! Your getting there !!

Composition with two birds and one oof can work, normally we want similar poses for both. We see more of it with birds on the ground !! Will try to dig one up and post later !!

This one as presented does not work for me since there is no connection between the birds but do like what your trying to do and should keep it up !!! Experimenting is good !!!

Hi Michael, Agree with Al above and find the OOF bird is dividing my attention and keeping my eye from resting on any one area...Nice light and exposure with the focus point being on the birds head...

agree with al and dave. in a perfect world you could have focused on the far away bird with the perfect wing position and removed the other bird. oh well. i like your thinking!!

    Hello Michael,

The up-turned bill and underwing pattern would suggest Marbled Godwits.

I think it would look better without the out of focus bird.

All points covered above for me :)
Agree would be better without the OOF bird.
Keep em coming and keep experimenting :)

I agree that image is better without second bird and perhaps a bit of nr on the bg. The in focus bird is quite well done and stands out well on its own.

I do like that as shown there are no merges between the bird and both wing position are in good positions for photos.
