From the Pacific rainforest in Costa Rica. This is an unusual species in that the female is more attractive than the male IMO. It's tough to get a clean BG in Costa Rica, so I was pleased with this frame.

Very cool!! I'd be very pleased with this one too!! Awesome singing pose with the perfect head turn. The leaves nicely balance the comp. I do wish the dark area in ULC wasn't so dark though.
Hey Doug, I've seen this image somewhere before;). Really nice HA, sharpness and BG! I like the comp with the leaves also. You can sometimes see this species in South Eastern Arizona, and Southern Texas.
Very nice shot love the pose and the comp. The leaves adds alot.
I photographed in Brazil for some years ago so I know it can be very hard to get a clean BG in the rainforest, but this on is good.
Congrats.
Pretty bird, new to me. I love the comp and bg, which I'm sure was difficult to achieve in a rainforest. Exposure, head angle look perfect. Multiple catchlight throws me off a bit, but I suspect the filtered sun through the forest is as much to blame as the fill flash. Very handsome image.
Hello Doug!
How could you get such a clean BG? I feel envious! this is a great image and I agree with you that the female, in this case is prettier than the male.
Excellent shot! The background and setting are awesome, as is the bird and pose. IMO, the composition is a bit too centred on the leaves, so I would move it a bit more towards the RHS. Otherwise a fine shot.
